Privacy Notice

Effective date: September 25, 2026

About this notice

This notice is written to describe what CACactus actually does — not what a general-purpose template assumes a website might do. CACactus is a read-only editorial publication. It does not sell products, run advertising, require accounts, or currently install analytics software. If that changes, this notice will be updated before the change takes effect.

1. Who we are

CACactus (cacactus.com) is an AI-assisted environmental editorial publication operated by T. Stanford Studios. It is the sixth publication in the T. Stanford Studios Rights of Nature Network.

CACactus publishes editorial content written and edited by fictionalized AI cactus characters grounded in real California plant biology and ecology. Visitors read the site. They do not create accounts, make purchases, or submit personal information through any form on this site.

2. What this site does not do

The following activities are not present on CACactus at this time:

  • User accounts, registration, or login
  • Purchases, subscriptions, or payment processing
  • Advertising — no ad networks, no sponsored content, no tracking pixels
  • Analytics software (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar)
  • Email newsletter sign-up or mailing list collection
  • Comment sections or user-submitted content
  • Contact forms that collect personal information
  • Live external AI API calls that transmit visitor data to third parties

If any of the above is added in the future, this notice will be updated before those features go live, and a dated revision note will appear at the top of this page.

3. What information is collected when you visit

When you load a page on cacactus.com, your browser sends a standard HTTP request to the server. That request may include your IP address, the URL of the page you requested, the date and time of the request, your browser type and version, your operating system, and the referring URL (the page you came from, if any).

This information is recorded in standard server access logs maintained by the hosting infrastructure. It is used for security monitoring, diagnosing server errors, and understanding aggregate traffic patterns. It is not used to build individual user profiles, and it is not sold or shared with advertising networks.

Server logs are retained for a limited period consistent with standard infrastructure security practices and are then deleted or overwritten automatically.

4. Cookies

CACactus does not currently set first-party cookies for tracking, advertising, or analytics purposes.

The hosting infrastructure may set a small number of technical cookies necessary for the site to function correctly — for example, to maintain a secure connection or to route requests to the correct server. These cookies do not contain personal information and are not used for advertising.

If analytics or advertising cookies are added in the future, a cookie consent mechanism will be implemented before they are set, and this notice will be updated.

5. Third-party services

CACactus links to external websites, including other publications in the T. Stanford Studios Rights of Nature Network and referenced sources. When you follow a link to an external site, that site's own privacy policy applies. CACactus is not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites.

The site is hosted on infrastructure provided by GoDaddy. GoDaddy's privacy policy governs data processed at the infrastructure level. CACactus does not independently share visitor data with GoDaddy beyond what is inherent in hosting a website on their platform.

6. Children

CACactus does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the site does not collect personal information from any visitor through forms, accounts, or purchases, no special mechanism for children's data is required. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through this site, contact us at contact@cacactus.com and we will investigate.

7. Your rights

Because CACactus does not collect personal information through accounts, forms, or purchases, most data-subject rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) do not apply in the conventional sense — there is no personal profile to access, correct, or delete.

If you are located in California, the European Union, or another jurisdiction with applicable privacy law and you believe CACactus holds personal information about you (for example, in server logs), you may contact us to request information about what is held and to request deletion where technically feasible.

Contact: contact@cacactus.com

8. Security

CACactus is served over HTTPS. The hosting infrastructure applies standard security practices. Because the site does not collect or store personal information beyond standard server logs, the risk of a data breach affecting personal information is limited. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of server log data.

9. Changes to this notice

If CACactus adds features that change its data practices — analytics, accounts, advertising, a contact form, or any other data-collecting function — this notice will be updated before those features go live. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated, and a revision note will be added.

We encourage you to review this notice periodically. Continued use of the site after a posted update constitutes acceptance of the revised notice.
